Scientific, lab-based methods to lower stress.

Why do you need to lower stress?

The main stress hormone cortisol has been implicated in nearly every major health issue, including, cancer, diabetes, obesity, heart disease and depression.

Additionally, high levels of cortisol prevent the brain from making logical, thoughtful decisions. Every one deserves the right to lead happier and healthier lives.

Five Ways Stress Undermines Health

Stress affects your health in many ways. Take action today to move out of a place where you survive and into a life in which you thrive!

Shortens Lifespan

Stress increases the rate at which you age and puts you at higher risk for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer's.

Hypertension. 2001; 37:381-385
Ann N Y Acad Sci. 2009 Aug; 1172: 34–53. doi:  10.1111/j.1749-6632.2009.04414.x

Kills Brain Cells

Stress increases the production of free radicals; molecules that punch holes into neurons. Cortisol also depletes the protein that stimulates new growth and protects existing brain cells

Dialogues Clin Neurosci. 2006 Dec; 8(4): 445–461.
Neuroscience. 2010 May 19; 167(3): 588–597.

Lowers IQ

Stress can shrink the hippocampus, the part of the brain responsible for memories. Further, it impairs rational decision making.

N Engl J Med 1993; 329:1049 September 30, 1993 DOI: 10.1056/NEJM199309303291423

Weakens Immune System

Cortisol decreases the body's natural defense systems while increasing tumor development and growth, as well as the rate of infection and tissue damage.

Psychol Bull. 2004 Jul; 130(4): 601–630. DOI:  10.1037/0033-2909.130.4.601

Feeds Depression

Reduces serotonin and dopamine (happy hormones) which further leaves you more vulnerable to addiction, anxiety, and overeating.

Malays J Med Sci. 2008 Oct; 15(4): 9–18.

Dr. Rebecca Heiss

After earning a PhD with research designated as “transformative” by the National Science Foundation, Dr. Rebecca Heiss has been applying her research to solve practical problems in overcoming what she refers to as biological ghosts—subconscious behaviors that haunt modern life. Described as a creative thought leader, she was honored to deliver a TEDx presentation on a portion of her work and has built her career around helping others break through their evolutionary “blind spots” to live happier, healthier lives.

Course Key Features

This course is designed with the latest techniques from brain science to target stress and lower baseline cortisol levels.  The goal is to empower students to lead happier, healthier, more purposeful lives.

  • Strong Fundamentals  Conscious and subconscious techniques to advance the health of all students.
  • Task Oriented With new tasks added as the course advances, this course achieves goals in digestible bites.

  •  Lifelong Learning This is not just a course, it's the introduction to a lifelong practice.
